Aptenia Cordifolia Variegata

While many succulents grow into large tree like specimens, or never get much bigger than their original size, some grow on and on and are ideal ground covers for both drought tolerant and tropical gardens. Their are many families of succulents, but the crassula, senecios, and sedums, seem to have the most ground covers to offer. The aptenia cordifolia variegata, above, is grown for its beautiful foliage, and tight red flowers. Extremely hardy, tolerating a wide range of waterings and temperatures. This ground cover, like most succulent ground covers, don’t appreciate foot traffic, but do thrive on neglect. They require little to no maintenance, feed them once during the growing season, and watch them inhabit some of the worst soil. Beautiful blooms, or constant oranges, golds, and blues, these succulent ground covers fit any style garden.
