A great way to bring some soft height into a design. These plants are truly amazing. The name Aeonium ‘Zwartkop’ comes from the dutch translation of “black head”, but it is also thought to have been of a German hybridization going under the name ‘Schwartzkopf’. Plants grow to 3’ tall with erect stems. If grown lushly, the side branches, which stem near the base, often droop. The inner rosettes appear greenish during their winter growth period, but as summer heightens, the whole of each rosette goes an almost black color. The summer also brings out large yellow flowers that contrast quite uniquely against the black foliage.
