From Order📦 to Delivery🚚: What Wholesale Customers Should Know!

When you’re managing a landscape installation, commercial project, or interior plant design, having the right plants at the right time is essential. At California Greenhouses, we understand that sourcing plants is more than selecting beautiful greenery—it’s about coordinating availability, timelines, and logistics to help your project move forward.

From placing an order to arranging pickup or delivery, our wholesale team is here to help make the process as smooth as possible.

1. Start With Your Plant List

Every successful project begins with a plan. Before placing your order, consider the plant varieties, quantities, container sizes, and installation dates you need.

Your dedicated sales representative can assist with checking availability, discussing options, and helping you source the right plants for your project. Whether you’re purchasing for a residential landscape, commercial property, or interior installation, sharing your project details early can help you plan with greater confidence.

2. Check Availability and Explore Your Options

Plant availability can change, so it’s important to confirm what’s currently available before finalizing your order.

If a specific variety or size is unavailable, your sales representative can help explore alternative options or discuss special-order needs. Providing your desired plant list and timeline gives our team a better understanding of how to assist you.

Planning tip: For larger projects, reach out early to discuss your material needs and allow time for sourcing and coordination.

3. Place Your Order

Once you’ve selected your plants, your sales representative can help you coordinate the details of your order, including quantities, fulfillment preferences, and any special instructions.

California Greenhouses offers multiple ways to receive your order, depending on your location and project requirements:

  • Will Call Pickup: Arrange to collect your order from one of our greenhouse locations.
  • Local Delivery: Coordinate delivery within the applicable service area.
  • Regional Delivery Routes: For qualifying destinations outside the local service area, select scheduled routes may be available.
  • Common Carrier Shipping: Shipping options are available for eligible orders, with costs and arrangements coordinated based on destination and shipment requirements.

4. Understand Pickup and Delivery Timelines

Knowing when your order will be ready or arrive is an important part of project planning.

For Will Call orders, preparation time is based on the order size and the store’s operating hours. Standard orders of $500 or more have a listed four-hour preparation window, while orders under $500 have a listed two-hour preparation window. These timeframes are subject to store availability and operating schedules.

Local deliveries generally operate Monday through Friday, with applicable order cutoffs and scheduling requirements. Regional delivery routes have their own cutoff times and scheduled delivery days.

Because timing can vary by fulfillment method, location, and order details, be sure to review the logistics guide and confirm your schedule with your sales representative.

5. Need to Add Items or Make a Change?

Projects evolve, and sometimes you need to add plants, adjust quantities, or coordinate a different fulfillment date.

Depending on your order’s status and applicable cutoff, you may be able to add items to an existing order. Once the cutoff has passed, a new order or assistance from your sales representative may be necessary.

Need an urgent pickup or delivery? You can submit an ASAP request where available. These requests alert the appropriate team for review, but expedited fulfillment is not guaranteed. Your sales representative can help determine what options may be possible.

6. Coordinate With Your Sales Representative

Your sales representative is your partner throughout the ordering process. From checking plant availability to coordinating holds, special orders, and fulfillment details, our team is here to help you navigate the process.

For larger projects, communicating your desired pickup or delivery date in advance can help your team plan accordingly. If you have questions about an order, need assistance with scheduling, or want to discuss sourcing options, reach out to your sales representative.

7. Prepare for Pickup or Delivery

Before your order is ready, make sure your project team is prepared to receive the plants.

For pickup orders, confirm your selected location, pickup timing, and any transportation requirements. For deliveries, coordinate with your job site or receiving team to ensure someone is available and the destination is prepared for the plants.

A little preparation can help make the final step of the process more efficient.
