At California Greenhouses, every location plays a special role in keeping our plants — and partnerships — thriving. Our Cardiff location is no exception. This site is the heart of our wholesale houseplant operation, where shipments arrive from as far as Hawaii and Florida, are carefully inspected, and then distributed to our other locations across California.

But what truly makes Cardiff stand out isn’t just the plants — it’s the people.

“Our customers come in pretty regularly — often on the same days,” shares one of our team members. “We’ve built really strong relationships with them. We know their schedules, their families, even their kids’ names. That close connection is a big part of Cardiff’s success.”

In an industry with plenty of competition, it’s that personal touch that keeps customers coming back. The Cardiff crew knows that plants aren’t the only thing growing here — trust and relationships are too.

Every day is hands-on at Cardiff. When a shipment arrives from Hawaii, the team unloads and clears space in the yard, organizing plants so customers can easily see what’s new. “We still have a few leftovers from last week’s Hawaii container,” one team member laughs, “but we’ve got three new containers coming in today — so it’s go time.”

Those containers are packed with lush, tropical varieties that need just the right care. The crew keeps a tight schedule, ensuring every plant gets the right amount of light, water, and time to acclimate before it’s ready for wholesale. “We give them about two months to grow and settle,” they explain. “But if we wait too long, they start dropping leaves — so moving them out quickly is a mission!”

They also handle massive shipments from Florida — 53-foot containers stacked top to bottom with fresh greenery. “It’s always exciting,” says one team member. “We get a lot of interesting and new plants in those loads.”

Beyond the logistics, Cardiff runs on teamwork and pride. You’ll often spot Frank — one of the smiling faces behind the operation — keeping the four-inch tables perfectly stocked and organized. “Anything you wish for is probably here,” the team jokes.

From tropical arrivals to familiar faces, the Cardiff location is proof that when you combine care, consistency, and community, you get more than just beautiful plants — you grow lasting relationships.
