What initially drew you to work with OC Succulents, and how has your career progressed since then?
I was drawn to OC Succulents because of my passion for outdoor and indoor plant care. I started my journey at our Irvine location, where I immersed myself in outdoor and indoor plant care. When I got an opportunity to move to the Cardiff Greenhouse, I eagerly embraced it. This transition allowed me to grow both personally and professionally. It broadened my expertise and offered me valuable experience in serving a wider range of customers.
Could you share a bit about yourself and your role at OC Succulents?
I’m the manager at our Cardiff Greenhouse location, and I oversee daily operations and sales. My role at OC Succulents is to provide top-notch service and expert advice on both indoor and outdoor plants. I ensure that customers always feel confident and satisfied with the plant care we offer.
What prompted your transfer to the San Diego location?
The transfer to the San Diego location was an exciting opportunity. I embraced new challenges and worked to expand my skill set. I got a fresh perspective working here, and it developed my leadership abilities. This experience was quite different from Irvine because I was exposed to various operational aspects and had a broader spectrum of customer needs.
What challenges do you face in overseeing daily operations and sales at the Cardiff Greenhouse?
As a manager at the Cardiff Greenhouse location, the core challenge I faced was balancing daily operations with our sales goals. However, it was a great opportunity for growth as I focused on maintaining the right stock levels and kept my team motivated and engaged to acquire sales targets.
What strategies do you employ to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction?
To maintain high levels of customer satisfaction at OC Succulents, I focused on delivering personalized service and expert advice. I made sure my team was knowledgeable about all our plants. I personally oversee and guide them to ensure that every customer feels valued and satisfied with their purchases.
How do you manage and motivate your team to achieve both operational and sales goals?
I manage and motivate my team by setting clear goals. I focus on creating a positive work environment where everyone feels valued and supported. So, I provide regular feedback to my team members so that my team stays motivated and aligned with our operational and sales goals.
How do you educate customers about the specific indoor plant care for succulents?
I educate customers by offering clear and accessible care information. I provide tips on watering, light needs, and common issues so customers have hands-on experience. I also provide personalized advice based on their plant choices, making sure they have the right knowledge about plant care.
How do you handle requests for succulents that may not be readily available?
When customers request succulents that aren’t currently in stock, I offer similar plant alternatives to meet their needs. I also maintain a waitlist for popular items and keep customers informed about when we expect them to become available. This approach helps ensure that our customers are satisfied and keeps them engaged with our store.
What are your long-term goals for the Cardiff Greenhouse?
As the Manager at our Cardiff Greenhouse, I plan to establish it as a community hub for plant enthusiasts, source unique plants to cater to a wide range of customer preferences, and develop a robust social media presence. I also believe in offering exceptional service and expertise to our customers.
What are some memorable customer interactions you’ve had?
I have had many memorable customer interactions, one of which was with a customer struggling with succulents. My team and I assessed their plants and offered follow-up support. A week later, the same customer came and expressed gratitude for the help.
How do you handle customer feedback or complaints regarding succulents Indoor plant care?
I handle customer feedback or complaints by listening attentively to their concerns. After understanding the issue, I review the care history of the succulents and then offer solutions, whether it’s additional care advice or arranging for a replacement. I also follow up to ensure customer satisfaction and use their feedback to improve our service and prevent similar issues in the future.
